How a Busbar Diffusion Welding Machine Works
HAIFEI equipment applies controlled electrical heating and pressure to the prepared joint area. The exact process depends on the material and workpiece structure, but a typical production cycle includes the following stages.
Surface Preparation
Oil, oxide, coating residue, burrs and uneven surfaces can prevent consistent contact between layers. The required cleaning or surface-treatment method should be established during process testing.
Layer Stacking and Positioning
The foils, plates or braided conductors are arranged according to the drawing and placed in the dedicated tooling. Correct positioning prevents the material stack from shifting during compression.
Initial Pressurization
The pressure system closes the tooling and applies the programmed force. Uniform contact is important because differences across the bonding area can lead to uneven heating and inconsistent consolidation.
Controlled Electrical Heating
Current passes through the configured heating circuit to raise the joint area to the required process condition. Output, heating time and pressure must be matched to the conductor material and bonding area.
Holding Under Pressure
The workpiece remains compressed for the programmed period so that the stacked material can consolidate at the joint. The appropriate holding sequence is established through actual workpiece testing.
Cooling and Unloading
The joint is kept in a controlled condition during cooling before the tooling opens. Manual, semi-automatic or automatic unloading can be configured according to the required output.
A successful result depends on the complete process—not machine power alone. Surface preparation, layer alignment, tooling condition, pressure distribution, heating sequence and cooling all influence the finished joint.

If the welding process has not yet been confirmed, testing the actual workpiece is more reliable than choosing a model from a general specification table.
Pressure-System Configurations
Pneumatic Configuration
A pneumatic system may be considered for selected workpieces with a suitable bonding area and force requirement. It has a relatively straightforward structure, but the available air pressure and force stability must be verified.
Hydraulic Configuration
Hydraulic pressure is commonly considered when the application requires higher force or a larger bonding area. The hydraulic system, tooling structure and working platform must be designed around the required pressure distribution.
Servo-Controlled Configuration
A servo-controlled pressure system may be used where the project requires programmable movement, controlled positioning or integration into a more automated production process. The actual control functions depend on the agreed machine design.
The pressure method should be selected after the workpiece test. A more complex pressure system does not automatically produce a better joint if the heating circuit, tooling or surface preparation is unsuitable.
